Waiting on Wednesday (10) - A Thousand Pieces of You

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
Firebird #1
Publisher: Harper Teen

Publication Date: November 4th, 2014

Goodreads Summary:
Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

Why Pieces?
Future world, new technology, and a mystery to solve- it sounds fabulous and oh so very interesting. There are so many elements that I want to know more about just from reading the summary.  And there's also ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COVERS EVER on the front to make me even more interested.

Waiting on Wednesday (9) - Shadow Study

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder
Series: Study #4 / Soulfinder #1
Publisher: Mira

Publication Date: February 25th, 2015

Goodreads Summary:
Once, only her own life hung in the balance.

Oddly enough, when Yelena was a poison taster, her life was simpler. But she'd survived to become a vital part of the balance of power between rival countries Ixia and Sitia. Now she uses her magic to keep the peace in both lands and protect her relationship with Valek.

Suddenly, though, they are beset on all sides by those vying for power through politics and intrigue. Valek's job - and his life - are in danger. As Yelena tries to uncover the scope of these plots, she faces a new challenge: her magic is blocked. She must keep that a secret - or her enemies will discover just how vulnerable she really is - while searching for who or what is responsible for neutralizing her powers.

Yes, the days of tasting poisons were much simpler. And certainly not as dangerous.

Why Shadow Study?
Maria V. Snyder has been one of my favorite authors since Poison Study, so I am absolutely elated that she is continuing the series! I actually wanted to make Shadow Study my WoW shortly after Maria announced it, but there wasn't a cover. I am delighted to make this my first WoW since returning from my blogging hiatus. :P Poison Study is also my favorite book in the series, and this one seems much more like Poison than Magic & Fire, so I have very high hopes for this one.

YA Newsweek

There has been so much happening in the YA world that I thought it should be rounded -up into one big post.

1. The Mortal Instruments is becoming a TV series!

What?? It's becoming a television show?? Wasn't it a movie????- All questions I asked myself and I'm pretty sure any other Mortal Instrument fan did too.

Yes there was a movie that come out last year (and it did horribly in theaters it made only $31 million domestically), the production house decided to make it into a television show which will begin production in 2015.

Personally, I think that television shows would be a better suited for most novels, due to the HUGE amount of content in book, especially in the Mortal Instrument series. Hopefully the TV show will do  better then the movie and follow closely to the book. (I actually lost interest when I was watching the movie, everything was so different and the story line was changed almost completely.)

You can check out more news about the new television show here and also read about it more on Cassandra Clare's tumblr.

2. Stephanie Perkins' hardcovers get new covers!

And finally my covers will match! Remember when Penguin decided to redo all the covers in the series and leave us all with unmatching covers? Well no more! Anna and Lola's hardcovers are now going to be published with the new covers and I am personally so trilled.

(P.S. From now until October 21, the PenguinTeen twitter is hosting a giveaway where you can win the new covers! All you have to do is post a a picture of your Stephanie Perkins books and tag it with #MatchMyIsla)

3. You can preorder Holly Black's new book The Darkest Part of the Forest from Barnes and Noble and get it signed!

I love having signed books and this is such an easy way to get one. (Of course so is going to Books of Wonder, which has TONS of signed books!)

4. Black Widow- #MarvelYA

BLACK WIDOW IS GETTING HER OWN NOVEL. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Announced at this year's NYCC, Margaret Stohl, (who you probably know as one of the co-writers of Beautiful Creatures) is WRITING A BOOK ABOUT BLACK WIDOW. Two of my favorite things (comics books and YA books) are combining into this awesome mush. So excited you guys, I'm so excited. It's coming in 2015 and I will definitly be reading it.

So what are you guys most excited for? What there anything that I missed? Let me know in the comments below!

[Update] I'm back!

Hi everyone!
After over a month's hiatus, I am happy to say that I will be blogging again! :) College is still hectic, but I really missed blogging. Despite my hiatus, I managed to acquire a bunch of books (both ARCs and finished copies), so I hope to read and review them whenever I have the time and will probably also post a "hiatus haul" soon.

In other news, keep on the look out for a Halloween hop giveaway sometime later this week to win some awesome supernatural titles! It will be open internationally. :)

xoxo,
